SECURITY RISK CONSULTANTS TO THE TE KAHA ARENA (CMUA), CHRISTCHURCH, NEW ZEALAND
IR is part of the Kōtui team delivering the NZD $474 million Te Kaha Arena (CMUA) in Christchurch, New Zealand.
The Kōtui team includes BESIX-Watpac, Mott MacDonald and Populous (Architects).
IR conducted assessment of security risks and led development of security and emergency management planning for the arena and public domain surrounds.
Te Kaha will be a 25,000 seat covered stadium that will host major sporting events and concerts, designed to be flexible to be equally fit for purpose for an array of smaller events.
IR worked with the Christchurch City Council and Venues Ōtautahi, the operator, to ensure risk-based security is embedded into the design.
We developed and are maintaining the Security Risk Assessment (SRA) for the project, we prepared the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Strategy, the security functional brief and have been providing ongoing security design advice.
IR authored the Security Management Plan (SMP) and Evacuation and Emergency Management Plan (EEMP). IR also coordinated the drafting of the Management-in-Use Plan for Te Kaha.
Most recently IR was commissioned to complete a CPTED Safety Audit on the stadium.
