MACQUARIE POINT STADIUM, HOBART AUSTRALIA
SECURITY RISK ADVISERS FOR THE DESIGN OF THE MACQUARIE POINT STADIUM, HOBART, TASMANIA
Intelligent Risks (IR) is delighted to be the specialist security advisers in the COX team designing the new Mac Point Multipurpose Stadium in Hobart. The stadium will be the home of the new Tasmanian Australian Rules football team, and a venue to host national rugby league games, and international cricket and rugby union matches, as well as various concerts and other events.
The stadium has been designated by the Tasmanian Government as a Project of State Significance (PoSS) and IR worked closely with the COX team during the submission and evaluation of their concept design.
IR prepared a Security Risk Assessment (SRA) to evaluate the risks to the stadium, patrons, staff, and visitors once it is operational. We also provided a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) report recommending measures to minimise criminal and antisocial activities, and detailed Hostile/Harmful Vehicle Mitigation (HMV) advice to help guide landscaping and structural designs.
IR is continuing to work with COX, and through them, the Macquarie Point Development Corporation (MPDC) and other stakeholders, on security for both the stadium and the public realm. The team has recently completed the schematic design phase and will shortly commence the detailed design phase. IRs inputs are providing assurance that security measures are appropriate for the Hobart environment, and will enable stadium patrons, staff, teams and entertainers – and other precinct tenants – to have a safe and secure experience.
IR’s work on the stadium further strengthens our longstanding professional association with COX Architecture, particularly in designing and developing national and international stadium and precincts.
