INTELLIGENT RISKS (IR) appointed as specialist security advisers in the John Holland design team

The John Holland Group has been appointed to deliver the redevelopment of the Penrith Stadium and its surrounding entertainment precinct. The A$309m project funded by the New South Wales (NSW) Government will transform the precinct into a state-of-the-art venue for sport and entertainment.

The new stadium will host men’s and women’s rugby league, union and football matches, and up to 10 concerts every year with a 30,000 pax capacity. The training field to the west will also be remodelled to create quality open spaces with multipurpose courts and improved landscaping to enable outdoor community use.

Intelligent Risks (IR) previously performed a similar role for Infrastructure NSW and John Holland on the award-winning Sydney Football (Allianz) Stadium design and construction project at Moore Park.

To inform strategic design considerations, IR prepared a Security Risk Assessment (SRA) to evaluate the risks to the stadium, patrons, staff, and visitors once it is operational. IR also developed a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Guidance Brief recommending measures to minimise criminal and antisocial activities, along with a Preliminary Hostile/Harmful Vehicle Mitigation (HHVM) report to help guide landscaping and structural designs.

As the design team progresses through the Detailed Design phase, IRs technical inputs are providing assurance that security measures are appropriate for the Penrith and western Sydney environment, and will enable stadium patrons, staff, teams and entertainers – and other precinct tenants – to enjoy a safe and secure experience in the precinct. A technical HHVM Plan will be delivered along with a HHVM Commissioning Report prior to the stadium being handed to its operators.
