CRISIS PLANNING AND RESPONSE, INCLUDING KIDNAP AND EXTORTION

image002IR has assisted numerous clients to manage complex issues in high-risk locations through the development of crisis management plans and the provision of crisis exercising, travel security briefings and enhanced protective operations for VIPs, expatriates and local personnel.

We have also assisted numerous manufacturing and processing companies successfully mitigate hundreds of product contamination, malicious product tampering and product recall cases.

Our planning and operational readiness experience is informed by IR’s constant involvement in crisis resolution and recovery cases internationally. IR is a leading global responder to kidnapping, missing person and extortion cases for multinational companies and international underwriters.
• For example, IR has:
• Coordinated the safe release of a kidnapped Chinese businesswoman in Honduras.
• Assisted a major international client to resolve an attempted US$25m extortion in Indonesia.
• Coordinated the successful resolution of a missing person case involving a British corporate executive in India.
• Assisted a multinational company to thwart an attempt by a business partner in Thailand to wrest control of a US$200m joint venture; and successfully countered the arrest of two of its senior executives on charges concocted by the business partner.
• Coordinated the 2021 investigation of a corporate corruption case in northern China that determined several executives were price-fixing and embezzling significant sums of money from the corporation.

• Coordinated the response by a mining services company to successfully free several of its staff who had been ambushed and kidnapped by a militia group in southern Nigeria.
• Following the fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban in August 2021, IR coordinated or assisted with the evacuation /exfiltration out of the country of over 120 Afghani nationals, predominantly women, who were assessed as being at high-risk of Taliban retribution.
• Coordinated the investigation of suspected financial losses within an international bank that determined over A$43million had been embezzled and resulted in the perpetrator receiving a lengthy custodial sentence.
