SECURITY RISK CONSULTANTS TO THE CANTERBURY MULTI-USE ARENA (CMUA) DEVELOPMENT, NEW ZEALAND

IR has been appointed as part of the Kōtui team delivering the NZD $474 million Canterbury Multi-Use Arena (CMUA) in Christchurch, New Zealand.

The Kōtui team includes BESIX-Watpac, Mott MacDonald and Populous (Architects).

IR will assess security risks and will lead development of security and emergency management planning for the arena and public domain surrounds.

The CMUA will be a 25,000 seat covered stadium that will host major sporting events and concerts, designed to be flexible to be equally fit for purpose for an array of smaller events.

IR will work with the Christchurch City Council and Venues Ōtautahi, the operator, to ensure risk-based security is embedded into the design. IR will develop and maintain the Security Risk Assessment (SRA) for the project, develop the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Strategy, develop the security functional brief and provide ongoing security design advice.

We will develop the Security Management Plan (SMP) and Evacuation and Emergency Management Plan (EEMP). IR will also coordinate the drafting of the Management-in-Use Plan for the CMUA.
